RealClimate.Org: The Science Behind Global Warming
All of us have heard about "global warming" but I would bet that most people, like me, really only have the vaguest notion of what that phrase actually means. In response to this, climate scientists, the ones actually doing the research, have created a blog to explain what the hell they are talking about and correct public perceptions and misconceptions about this topic. It is definately worth a visit. I am linking here to a post where they explain just what is the scientific consensus on global warming anyway? This really is the meat of the matter here.
It is worth noting that at this stage of the game no serious climate research scientists remain who dispute that global warming is real. Outside of paid industry hacks and scientists who do not specialize in climate research (paging Dr. Crichton), there is a near universal agreement that global warming is happening. The only real discussion is: how bad will it be?
FWIW: global warming had nothing to do with the recent earthquake/tsunami in Asia. That would be a matter of plate tectonics or god killing gay Swedish couples as they vacation. Your pick.
