Biological Perspective
I ran across this site doing the 'next blog' thing. It reminded me of a book called What's Love Got To Do With It? by anthropologist Merideth Small. She argues that this tends to happen to men at about the time children hit three or four years old. From a biological perspective, the male is not as essential to the growth of the offspring at this point and can move on and procreate again with another woman, maximizing the survival potential of his genes. Women apparently go through something similar, essentially a "this male has done his duty, now he can piss off."
I hope this does not happen to my marriage. I suspect it will to some degree because of biological imperatives. Working toward a lasting relationship should help overcome that, I hope. I pray. Goddess willing.
